The TopBetta brand originated from Newcastle in 2010 after being granted a license by the now-defunct Norfolk Island Gaming Authority. Soon after, TopBetta received a license from the Northern Territory Government before acquiring the MadBookie business in 2017. In 2018, TopBetta was taken over by PlayUp Limited. TopBetta evolved from a tournament game playing enterprise to a fully-fledged online corporate bookmaker. They were even granted a license in the United Kingdom for their Global Tote enterprise that allowed them to export Australian racing to the UK market.
TopBetta is now of course PlayUp, having merged with ClassicBet and Mad Bookie to form one of Australia’s leading betting sites.
TopBetta tournament betting
Tournament betting with TopBetta gave you access to fantasy betting. For as little as $1, you could enter a tournament where there was a fixed number of entrants. From there, you were able to bet with fantasy dollars on tournament markets. Tournaments were available on a range of sports.
Global Tote dividends
Through their ownership of the Global Tote, TopBetta was able to provide dividends from the Global Tote. What was the benefit you may ask? Well, the Global Tote is a wholesale tote market for bookmakers with low operator margins. This meant higher dividends for tote bets.
